SCOPE
The overall scope is to support the team in charge of BIG DATA ANALYTICS PLATFORM (BDAP) in the design, implementation, and deployment of systems and services for the BDAP infrastructure and possible deployment in cloud services.
DESCRIPTION OF TASKS
The consultant will be expected to contribute to all the tasks listed below:
- Establish and manage procedures related to deployment of information systems and processing services based on Kubernetes.
- Set up and manage CI/CD pipelines for data processing and analysis, including integration with the JRC DevOps platform.
- Support scientific users with the configuration and deployment of processing services based on Kubernetes
- Support the team in charge of BDAP in deployment of Linux nodes on new hardware.
- Test deployment of processing environments in public cloud systems.
- Documentation of work (configurations, routines, scripts, etc) in the project wiki and code repositories.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Sound experience in Linux environments (RedHat/Community Enterprise Linux, Debian/Ubuntu), including bash and Python scripting, as well as networking.
- Good knowledge of system and service deployment with Foreman and Ansible
- Good knowledge of Docker container environments and Kubernetes (K8s) orchestration.
- Good knowledge of CI/CD automation tools.
- Knowledge of Proxmox would be an asset.
- Knowledge of service deployments in commercial clouds like AWS, Azure, etc. or clouds based on OpenStack would be an asset.
In general: someone good at setting up cloud-native services in the BDAP platform, and also work on server & VM deployment and automation.
